A big part of student life is studying - it’s the whole reason you’re all here! It makes sense, then, that the largest number of YUSU reps are here to improve your learning and teaching experience and make sure you get the most out of your degree.
You can find your Reps using our directory.
What is an Academic Rep?
All Academic Reps play a major role in developing a better university for students and work together to ensure that all students are equally represented.
They act as the link between you, the department and the university more widely - meaning you can remain anonymous and don’t have to go through the formal complaints system.
I want to give feedback about my learning experience - what do I do?
The one thing all Academic Reps need to be able to do their job is student feedback, without knowing your views they cannot represent you. Whether it's a question about how to submit an assessment online, a grumble about a lack of resources or an idea on how a module could be better - your Reps want to know!
Ways to feedback
Email an Academic Rep
Submit your thoughts (anonymously) on “How was that Contact Time?”

There are over 400 Course Reps across the University, representing both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Course Reps have a direct link with the students in their cohort and ensure that any queries or concerns are raised and dealt with appropriately.
Course Reps play a major role in improving the academic experience for students by collecting feedback and resolving any programme specific queries.
If you have any queries, problems or any positive feedback relating to your course, then speak to your Course Rep! They are here to help and take any issues or ideas to department staff.
Department Reps lead the team of Course Reps in your department and help develop and improve the learning experience for all students.
Department Reps are an invaluable key contact for both departments and YUSU and help bring together the views of students from different programmes and different departments to advocate for University-wide changes.
Each Faculty has an elected undergraduate student rep. Faculty Reps work behind the scenes, sitting on University-level committees such as Faculty Boards and Senate, representing all students within their Faculty. They champion student feedback, work on their manifesto priorities and create large scale positive changes. Send them feedback here.
The current undergraduate Faculty Reps are:
