York Sport Union offers the opportunity to get involved in 66 different Sports Clubs ranging from traditional sports such as football and netball to sports you may never have heard of such as octopush and floorball. There’s also the opportunity to start up a new club if we don’t offer your sport!
We believe sport is all about having fun, being social and giving every student the opportunity to get involved. We ensure that all of our clubs are shaped and directed by our members, the students, which means that each club is run by a student committee.
Many of our clubs offer the chance to compete in BUCS (British University College Sport) representing the University of York across the country against other Universities. As well as BUCS, there’s also the opportunity to get involved in local and regional leagues.
The York Sport Union Performance Programme aims to provide extensive support for teams and individuals to maximise their sporting performances while at the University by providing a range of specialist services including, strength and condition, sport science workshops, discounted physiotherapy and sports massage along with guidance and support from dedicated staff members. The programme encompasses;
