University of York Conservative and Unionist Association (York Tories)
The York Tories is a society for members, supporters and those interested in the Conservative Party, or politics in general — a place where politics enthusiasts can freely discuss their ideas over a few drinks.
We host weekly ‘drinking socials', such as bar crawls, on Wednesdays, with more serious events with guest speakers from the worlds of politics, academia or journalism, and debates taking place on Fridays.
In recent years we’ve welcomed the Honorary Member for the Eighteenth Century and online sensation, Jacob Rees-Mogg, and the ‘Brexit Secretary’, David Davis.
Afterwards, we inevitably make the short trip to The Garden of India for a curry, where we asses our speaker or continue the debate!
Twice a year we hold formal Balls, attended by students and activists from across the country, these really are unmissable occasions.
For the more committed Conservatives amongst you, we regularly run campaigning sessions alongside our Local Association and send a delegation to some of their larger events, as well as Party Conference.
If you have any questions, or want to find out more about how you can get involved, drop us an email at the address listed below — we look forward to meeting you soon!
