Supporting Women in Engineering at York (SWEY)
Supporting Women in Engineering at York (SWEY) is a cross-departmental initiative, set up initially by the Departments of Electronics and Computer Science, to try and address the gender imbalance within engineering. We aim to encourage, support, connect and inspire female engineering students, as well as helping to inspire more young women to consider engineering at university and as a career. Membership is open to anyone who calls themselves an engineer (usually from a STEM subject background but not exclusively), and to anyone of any gender.
SWEY is a student branch of the Women’s Engineering Society, a national network of women engineers, scientists and technologists offering inspiration, support and professional development.
We are also an IET On Campus group, having access to IET-based practical, technical and career-related resources.
