The Looking Glass Anthology is an annual creative writing anthology made up of the best writing by students at the University of York.
We accept submissions of creative writing (poetry, short stories, drama, etc.) from anyone studying at the University of York from the first day of the academic year until the end of Spring term. During this time we hold editorial meetings every Tuesday where our members discuss the submissions critically in order to send authors detailed feedback, and to decide whether they should be included in the anthology. The standard of published work is high and each year, when we publish and distribute the book in Summer term, it goes into the British Library.
Our society allows students to gain valuable publishing experience. From editing submissions to publicising events, proofreading, formatting the anthology, and marketing the books, there's something for everyone.
Many of our members aspire to careers in publishing and have undertaken work experience placements at top publishing houses, meaning we are well-placed to help new members take their first steps into the world of publishing.
We hold editorial meetings every Tuesday at 6:30pm in the F.R. Leavis room (Derwent) and anyone is welcome to come along!
