Monday night saw YUSU’s Annual General Meeting take place.
This year’s AGM was split into two parts. The first part covered normal AGM business. Ben Leatham, YUSU President, reported back to members on YUSU’s activity and financial reports from the last year (2014-15) and members received a list of affiliations.
The AGM also saw Ben announce a policy review consultation, due to start later this term and run throughout 2016. Ben explained that openess and transparency are absolutely key to YUSU but said that for students, this doesn’t always feel the case. He explained that on a termly basis YUSU sees how the policy processes through which students can get their voices heard, shape policy and engage with YUSU are not as accessible as they should be. Over the next six months YUSU will be working with students to address this.
The second part of the meeting included an Officer’s Question Time. Each Full Time Officer reported back to members on their personal highlights from their time in office, before members took the floor to quiz the FTO team on everything from virtual learning development to NUS affiliation.
