Senate Rep
Three Senate Reps are elected by the student body to sit on the University Senate, which happens four times a year. University Senate is responsible for regulating and directing the academic work of the University, including the approval of new courses and the supervision and discipline of students. It is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor and attended by all four Pro-Vice-Chancellors and representatives from each department. The Union President is also a member and the Academic Officer attends as an observer.
Main Responsibilities
- Attending four meetings of University Senate;
- Reading committee papers provided ahead of the meeting;
- Attending briefings with YUSU staff, Union President and Academic Officer to clarify issues arising from the papers;
- Attend YUSU Academic Assembly as a member of the committee.
