Boards of Studies Reps

What is a Boards of Studies Rep?

Board of Studies reps are elected representatives who are exist to reprsent your views on your course to your department. They often represent a year group within a course, for example first year Physics. They sit on the Boards of Studies within your department. The Boards are comprised of all the academics within the department and it is a great way to improve things and make your voices heard.

How can they help me?

YUSU works with Boards of Studies reps to help them resolve issues and improve what the university offers you.

If you have an issue with your course or the department then your Boards of Studies Rep should be your first port of call. They can then represent you to the department.

How do I contact my Boards of Studies rep?

It's usually easy to find them by going to your departments web pages. Their emails should be listed for you to contact them. Some of them have groups on facebook which you can join. Some of the reps hold surgeries or drop in sessions where you can pop along and bring up any issues with them.

Boards of Studies Committee

Boards of Studies Committee is a YUSU committee which meets three times a term to discuss issues, share ideas and consider wider issues relating to academic quality.

Boards of Studies Campaigns

We also run campaigns on issues which affect you. Our most recent Boards of Studies campaign is the campaign to reduce the costs of a year in industry. The motion about it can be found by clicking here.

We're also working with the library to improve the services they offer. Boards of Studies reps sit on Library Committee to raise your suggestions and complaints. The reps for this year are Joe Cropper (jc559) and Bryn French (brf500)

How can I become a Boards of Studies rep?

Elections are held in Autumn Term so keep your eyes peeled.
