Student Action Week
It's Student Action's 40th birthday this year and we're celebrating during WEEK 6 with an action-packed volunteering fest!
The aim of this week is to raise the profile of volunteering on campus, get a tonne of new people involved and also have a load of fun!
All our amazing events are listed below with links to the event pages. Keep an eye on the events here as we'll be adding more as they materialise!
Please come along to whatever takes your fancy. All events are open to everyone whether as a regular volunteer or maybe someone who hasn’t taken part before. This week is not just for Student Action members, this week is an opportunity for EVERYONE to get involved!!!!!

Monday
First Aid course:- We will be running a subsidised First Aid Course from 12:30 to 16:30. MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW

Campus Nursery Garden:- To kick off the week Student Action in association with the YUSU Environment and Ethics officers will be at the Campus Nursery helping to prepare their garden and vegetable patch for the winter. If you are an eco warrior, or you just fancy a bit of digging then this may be your thing.

Tuesday
CRB Drop In Session:- CRB forms confusing you? Want to get your form sorted out so you can get involved? Then come along to this event. (Details TBC)

Blind Sports day: - All will be able to come along and participate in an assault course, but with a twist, you will be blind folded! A special prize will be given to the fastest time. So come down to 22 Acres from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.

Tea and Coffee Club:- This will be running in Derwent JCR from 11:15am – 12:15pm and 2:15pm - 3:15pm. For information on how to help out email teaandcoffee@yusu.org.

Wednesday
MEG Student Workshop:- Come and bang some drums from 10am to 1pm with the Music Education Group in Goodricke Old Dining Hall, or just pop along and find out about the week. Open to everyone, whatever your musical skill.
Working with children Workshop:- Learn how to work with children and a bit more info about all our various children projects.

Kid’s Party: - Relive childhood memories and come play pass the parcel and musical chairs before you move onto Ziggy’s or Salvation. (Just students, and no children!) Pop along to Vanbrugh JCR from 7pm.

Thursday
Volunteering Fair:- If you would like volunteer but don't know where or how, or you just simply want some more information, then this is the place for you. Also entertainment will be running throughout the day. We will be in Central Hall from 12pm to 4pm, so pop in and discover your options!

Christmas Boxes:- All day in Goodricke Old Dining Hall we will be making Christmas boxes to send to the British armed forces. So please come along and donate some items. Further details can be found on the event page.

Babylon Evening:- Between 4 and 6pm, Student Action's latest project, Babylon, will be running an evening of games and activities centered around language learning. If you think you might be interested in helping children to learn a language, come and find out what Babylon is all about.

Working with Old People Workshop:- If you are wanting to volunteer with any vulnerable adults, it is a good idea to attend our training session at 10:30 (TBC). You will even receive a certificate for your efforts!

Mega College Challenge at St Nicholas Fields
Another outing to beloved St Nicks for some tree-planting, weed-destroying, litter-removing, hedge-building fun! Meet at Vanbrugh College at 10.30, or pop down to St Nicks itself from 11-2. Get involved and score points to help your college towards the inaugral Dame Judi Dench Cup!
