How do I get a CRB form?
CRB checks and reference checks will be carried out for volunteers on every project that involves working with children or vunerable adults. On most projects you can start volunteering while we wait for the check to come through. However, CRB forms are strictly necessary for any projects where you will be in close contact with children without supervision - this includes Kids Camp, Kids Club,KEEN & MEG. You CANNOT volunteer on these projects without a CRB check.
To be screened
- Drop into the SU office and complete or pick up a CRB form and information sheet from Maria the Volunteering Coordinator.
- Fill it in and return it to the office. You will need to bring several types of identification, as outlined on the information sheet (or check www.crb.gov.uk). Maria the Volunteering Coordinator will fill in relevant parts of the form and send it off for you.
- It should take around 4-5 weeks for the check to come through. We will receive a copy and you will get one sent to your current address.
- If your CRB check is clean then you are free to volunteer! If your CRB check records an offence that has no bearing on your suitability to work with children, then you are free to volunteer. If your check records an offence that has a bearing on your suitability to work with children, then you will be contacted and informed of the situation.
