Student Action
Student Action is the section of the Student Union which deals with volunteering. It began back in the 1960s and aimed to provide students so with the chance to leave University with more than just a degree.
As it was then, it is now run for students by students. Many people have volunteered before, at whatever level, and we hope we can help you build your experience! Whether you've volunteered with Guides or Scouts, coaching sport for youngsters, or just visiting a residential home we help give you local opportunities.
Here at Student Action that we have a project that will suit you and your time constraints. If not we're always open to ideas and will do everything we can to help provide you with an activity you wish to get involved in.
You can get involved with volunteering in York in many different ways. Some of our projects are one-off, some are run weekly, and some need your help once every fortnight. This means that you can help out once a week or once a year, the choice is entirely up to you.
Choose from volunteering with Children, older people, conservation or working alone side prisoners(SWAP).
