Raids and Tours
RAG Raids
RAG Raids are a fantastic way to get involved with RAG. They involve very little effort on your part, raise tons of cash and are loads of fun!! Raids are street collections we run in cities all around the country for a variety of charities.
To ensure a full day out and plenty of time for drinks and socialising afterwards, raids tend to start on a Saturday morning. Should you sign up for a raid, you and fellow students would be transported to the allocated city armed with a collection bucket and possibly some form of ridiculous fancy dress ready for a day of looting! This is the ideal way to incorporate a trip to the city with some good quality fundraising…and perhaps a spot of shopping!
There are lots of Raids booked for the Autumn Term including Edinburgh, Liverpool and York. Email Kyle on rag@yusu.org if you are interested.
Mega Raids
Mega Raids are two day RAG Raids offering you a whole weekend away and the chance to explore a different city day and night. For Mega-raids we provide transport and basic accommodation. All you have to do is collect, and have fun!
Some MegaRaids have grown over the years to become much bigger events involving not only lots of York students but also students from RAGs all over the country. These events are traditionally huge amounts of fun and a brilliant way of meeting people and doing something completely different. Two examples are the ‘Hogmoney’ raid run by Cancer Research UK in Edinburgh over New Year and 'The London Undergrand’ Collection run by Help the Aged at the end of the Summer term.
If you want to know more about MegaRaids or sign up email ragraids@yusu.org.
Easter Tour
The Easter Tour is basically a week-long street collection in 7 different towns/cities. It involves a minibus or two full to the brim with students, sleeping bags and collecting boxes driving around England, sleeping in the cheapest accommodation possible (parents houses, village halls, church floors, hostels……or hotels if we can blag it!), collecting each day in a different city and exploring the city each evening. It’s completely exhausting but a great laugh and a very rewarding experience!
Keep Checking back for more info on the Easter Tour 2008
If you are interested in coming along get in touch! Email ragraids@yusu.org.
