The Union

When you come to University you automatically become a member of this huge body called the Student’s Union. We’re basically responsible for everything at Uni that isn’t related to your course or accommodation – the sports clubs and societies you join, the welfare advice you receive, the events you go to… if it doesn’t appear to be directly related to your academic life, chances are we’re behind it!

The most important thing about the Student’s Union is that it’s run for you, by you. Every important decision we make is made or influenced by the students, either directly (e.g. you vote on it at a UGM) or indirectly. Likewise, any money we make through shops and events is used to fund societies, student development opportunities, or campaigns. The Students’ Union is run by the Executive Committee, which consists of six Sabbatical (full time) officers and 12 Non-Sabbatical posts. JCRC Chairs and Associations (e.g. OSA) also hold a seat on the Executive.

You can find us at the Students’ Union building, Goodricke College - if you have any questions, issues or just want to come and say hi!
