Ali

Physics Exhibition Centre: PX001

£2.50 (with your Roses event guide)

In celebration of Roses 2011, the story of the greatest sportsperson of the 20th century is coming to YSC. Starring Will Smith as Muhammad Ali, Michael Mann’s film is a mesmerising biopic and a thrilling sports movie.

Director Michael Mann (Public Enemies, The Last of the Mohicans) was seen by many as an odd choice for Ali, but it’s his take on the boxer’s life that’s most memorable about Ali. Uninterested in just telling us how great Muhammad Ali was, Mann chooses to make history his priority, and lets the actions of Ali and his contemporaries speak for themselves. Will Smith offers a commendable, Oscar-nominated performance that’s equally humble in its approach.

The closing ceremony is a great event to round up an exciting weekend. University Senior Management, fans, organisers and players alike come together to celebrate the weekend's winners. With trophies per sport, and the unveiling of the new Ernst & Young Player of the Tournament trophy, the Closing Ceremony will prove to be quite the spectacle. Then, after performances from Capoeira and the ISA, the prize of the weekend is awarded; the James Carter Trophy will be lifted for the 47th time.

Vodka Revolution will host the official Roses after party from 10pm-3am. Themed with Roses branding this is your chance to celebrate the sporting weekend with all the teams, and bespoke drink deals! Qjumps are available to buy at the Pavilion on 22 acres on Saturday and Sunday or from the Courtyard.
