YUSWC CALENDAR!

All our events should be on here so you can see what we're up to each term! We'll update it as we go along; so keep checking back... the best way to keep up to date is to join the mailing list.

Sailing Race training takes place most Wednesdays and Satudays throughout the year.

Windsurfing Beginner Days usually happen in October, late Spring and Summer; at weekends and sometimes Wednesday afternoons.

Joint Sailing & Windsurfing Beginner Days run on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the Summer months during term-time.

Highlights of 2007-2008

Autumn term

AUSSIE KISS 6IX - SWA Student Windsurfing Festival - the only way to start the year. Wild West theme embraced by all. Caravan was duly trashed. Great wind, great people, great times.

"YUSWC AUTUMN COLLECTION 2007" - A team race, in kit, round all the campus bars, followed by micklegate and Ziggys... it got a bit messy...

SHEFFIELD SHINDIG - Sailing team racing event.

"CAVE RAVE I" - were you there when it all began? Outrageous fur, glowsticks, Kate's hair... an social of legendary proportions.

LIVERPOOL LASH - sailing team racing event. Team Rachel makes her first appearance. Event won by a load of 12 year olds. Oiks.

PONDLIFE IV - Windsurfing event. Theme was 'Nu-Rave/Erotica'. Big up Alex from Nottingham for the best bacon sarnies in the morning. Ever.

XMAS MEAL + ZIGGYS - featured a surplus of cream and house white. A bad combination.

Spring Term

THE DURHAM DAMBUSTER Sailing Event. It was January. It was a little bit cold. But a LOT of fun.

SUPERHEROES - Not may white T-shirts survived this social. Best costume honours shared between Ed 'WonderWoman' Rainer and Jamie 'Septic Hulk' Barber.

SAILING BUSA QUALIFIERS - we got through! Yeah, we're good.

RUBIKS CUBE SOCIAL - big time.

MANCHESTER 'BIG M' - Crew got lost. Again.

LONDON 'POINT BREAK' - windsurfing event. We bonded through our various attempts to windsurf in ridiculous winds, and through the, er, hospitality of our host ...

Summer Term

BUSA WINDSURFING - our entrants did us proud, nails-in-feet notwithstanding.

ROSES - the pre-printed 'Winners' T-shirts proved not to be a gamble as York Sailors eased to victory, providing vital points for York's closest away ROSES victory ever!

ELECTIONS - somehow we ended up at the Willow... for a night of hardcore electro-dance... to celebrate the beginning of a new era for the club...

THE BEAVER BASH - Our first ever Summer Alumni Event was a storming success, raising over £1000 towards our new fleet of fireflies. Set to become a fixed part of the YUSWC calendar? I think so.

AU BALL - the graduating third years certainly didn't hold back... and congratulations to Crew and Harri who were awarded University half-colours for their services to the club.


Wow... its been a pretty good year.
