York University Sailing & Windsurfing Club
WELCOME TO YUSWC!
We are a friendly club, always looking for new members as well as those who just want to come along and try something new.
What do we do? Here's just a flavour - use the menu on the left to find out more!
The Sailing Race Teams compete regularly at weekend-long events in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and all the big cities up North. We compete in the BUSA National Team Racing Championships, with regional qualifiers taking place early in the Spring term. All these weekends necessarily involve nights of carnage in a foreign city followed by sailing of great speed, skill and tactical nous. And of course, Roses (York vs Lancaster) is our must-win match of the year.

We run Sailing and Windsurfing Beginners Days where anyone of any ability can just come along to Beaver Sailing Club and have a go. We have fully qualified instructors who spend their Summers jetting off to Greece, Turkey and Dahab, Egypt... so you know you're in safe and experienced hands.

We go to massive Windsurfing Events in Cornwall, Nottingham, Southampton, London, Cardiff, Cambridge... wherever there be windsurfers. These events involve universities from all across the country, and the themed Saturday night parties of up to 700 windsurfers are not to be missed. We compete too - 2007 saw Windsurf Captain Erica Phillips take the Student Windsurfing Association Ladies Championship and AU Sportswoman of the Year.

We go on loads of cool Socials, sometimes fancy dress, always top notch lash. Check out the Social Calendar to see when/where the next one's happening.
