Hello! My name is Millie and I’m your student union president. My role entails a whole range of things but my primary job is to represent students, and to enable you to make the most of your time here. I work with colleges, the university and the other sabbs to make sure the university is really targeting the needs of students. York is great in so many ways: the city is incredible, the community is diverse, and the academia is ambitious. York proves that the university experience is about so much more than the degree you take, it’s about people, places and experiences. Over the next year I want to ensure that we do everything in our power to give you access to all the best and most varied opportunities.
Hi I’m Isaac, your York Sport Union President! If you have any questions or queries about sport, no matter how small, please feel free to ask. The best aspect of sport for me is the community it can foster and at York we have a very inclusive and open sporting environment! Sport is a fantastic way to meet new people, keep active and de-stress! At York we have 66 university sports clubs as well as 16 college sports, so there are many different levels at which you can get involved. My role, along with the invaluable help of the York Sport Committee, is to make sure everyone has the best possible sporting experience and student voices are heard and equally represented.
Hi! I'm Dom, your Community & Well-being Officer. I'm one of the five fabulous officers elected to represent you to the University and, in my role, to the wider York community as well. There's so many amazing things to get involved with whilst at York - in your college, in societies, through sports or volunteering - and it's my job to ensure that the Uni, the various services and networks are all doing their utmost to support you through your years here so that you can have the best experience possible! Do pop into the office, drop me an email or FB message if you fancy a chat or want to talk about anything & everything wellbeing, liberation or community related. York really is a fantastic community to be a part of, you're going to love it!
Hey, I’m Alex your Student Activities Officer. I’m in charge of most of what you do outside of your university course. Here at York, you can find a huge amount of opportunities to follow your interests and get involved; whether you’re writing for our award winning student media, skydiving to earn money for RAG, spending your time volunteering at Kid’s camp or pursuing a passion at one of our 184 societies, there’s something to appeal to everyone!
Hi! My name is Tamaki, and I’ll be your Academic Officer for 2016/17. My job is to make sure students’ concerns and voices are fully represented within academia. This means I work with university staff, careers, library and IT, and student reps (as well as anyone else who wants to work with me) to fully understand situations and commit to the best answers for all involved. If you have any campaigns or ideas, even questions to swing my way, don’t hesitate!
