NUS Extra

NUS Extra is an optional card which costs students £10 to purchase.  Think that £10 is a rip-off? Please read on.....

-   When you hand over £10 for your NUS Extra card, just over £4 goes back to YUSU.  In the 2006/7 academic year, YUSU received £16,000 back from NUS.  This money went back in to societies, sports clubs, campaigns, etc.

-   NUS only receive £2.50 from the sale of each card.  They have to negotiate with companies for the discounts, produce the cards and market them.  The money NUS receives goes back in to the national student movement.

-   NUS Extra DOES get you exclusive discounts!  For example, only with an NUS Extra card can you receive 5% off all amazon.co.uk purchases & only with an NUS Extra card can you receive 20% off topman.com purchases.

-   The International Student Identification Card (ISIC) which entitles you to discounts all over the world is £9.  Your NUS Extra card doubles up as an ISIC card for no extra cost.

-   YUSU doesn't offer the NUS Democracy cards as YUSU members do not need one.  YUSU does all elections on-line and the democracy card does not get you the extra discounts an NUS Extra card does.
