Code of Conduct / Rules and Regulations
The Returning Officer sets out the Code of Conduct / Rules and Regulations for the Referendum. These must be abided by all parties concerned.
1) All printed publicity must be seen and passed by the Returning Officer before it is printed via Your:Print and distributed.
2) The Returning Officer has the right to refuse publicity if it is offensive, untrue or contravenes the Students' Union Constitution or Equal Opportunities Policy. All publicity must be free from defamatory or libellous remarks.
3) All publicity printed must be sourced through Your:Print.
4) The Returning Officer must be provided with a copy of all publicity to be held on file.
5) Both the Yes and No campaign groups will be provided with £150 Your:Print credit, and £50 additional campaign expenses for additional publicity. For the sake of this Referendum, only the Yes and No campaign bodies shall be recognised.
6) Any infringement of these rules will result in YUSU taking action against the campaign team concerned. This may result in sanctions such as a campaign ban being levied.
7) Publicity must not be placed outside. Sellotape must not be used. For the regulated Nimlock boards, only velcro tabs are to be used. For all other locations blue-tac or pins as appropriate may be used.
8) The Returning Officer will not vote in this referendum. However, in the event of a tie the Returning Officer will use their casting vote.
9) If in doubt, ask the Returning Officer FIRST!
