Involves more students than any sport club or society at the university and its activities span across campus, into the city, to other towns, and even abroad.
Regular Events
RAG Week
The highlight of every academic year is "RAG Week". A week filled with fundraising activities on and off campus, it is brimming with diverse events from murder mystery parties to dancing competitions, ghost walks to raids. Culminating with the legendary RAG bash, this week provides an unmissable experience involving every York student in some way.
RAG Parade
One of the biggest fundraisers for RAG over the past years, the RAG Parade is an event that encompasses more students in fundraising than any other. One of RAG’s proudest moments and a fantastic end to RAG week. Every college gets hundreds of students together to raid the streets of York in aid of the elected charities. Donned in fancy dress and brimming with college spirit, over 1000 students with college spirit, over 1000 students take to the streets of York to collect for charity.
Woodstock
For years, RAG have put on the summer term open air music festival Woodstock. Dozens of York students showcasing their talents; ranging from jugglers, cheerleaders, dancers, bands, comedians, and the final of the York’s got talent competition. An incredible 12 hour music, comedy and drama festival attended by around 2000 students.

Sponsored Events
These can range from fun runs, abseiling off central hall and even doing a sponsored sky dive! Sky diving is an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, fantastic fun and a great way to face a fear of heights! You only live once…
RAG Raids
Approximately 4 times per term (12 times per year), a team of volunteers partake in street collections in different cities in the UK. These are usually very colourful affairs, a great money raiser for the charities we support, a great laugh and fantastic way to meet like-minded people. Fancy dress is usually advised!
RAG Hitches
RAG fundraisers are tasked with raising sponsorship for thumbing a lift back to York from destinations all over Europe. RAG provides training, transport (one way), and t-shirts as well as prizes for first back and most money raised.
