How Can I Help?

The Campaign and how you can help;

We need to show the University

a) The strength of support for a return to the system in place before January 21st

b) The reasons why portering is important and the problems with the current situation

Things to do:

All the campaign materials are in the green of the posters you should have seen in your room and are all part of this co-ordinated campaign between all student groups.

Things you can do to help show support for your porters:

  • Ask your parents or write letters yourself to ‘The Deputy Vice Chancellor’ regarding the need for portering in all colleges, whilst being aware that the situation cannot be changed until the 28th April or download our example letter on the Campaign Materials page of this section
  • Sign one of the petitions you’ll find at porters lodges, with members of the campaign team or download your own petition and hand it in full of names
  • Fill in one of the postcards that you’ll find in porters lodges and pop it into the internal mail to 'The Deputy Vice Chancellor
  • When you’ve been to the porters lodge fill in one of the slips and pin it to the campaign board to say how important it was that the porter was there or how it affected you because they weren’t in the lodge
  • Be aware that the motion on portering was passed and you can download and view it here, which shows the action that will be taken if portering does not return by April 28th 2007
