Student Television at York - York Student Television

Student Telly? You What?

Students love media - it's a great career prospect, and a lot of fun. Loads of Universities have student radio stations, but here at York, we're a bit different. We've got a student TV station too, and we call it York Student Television. Strangely enough, we make telly, in both senses of the term:

  • We produce TV shows, both live and pre-recorded. We don't have much money to do it with, but that doesn't hold us back. Why not watch a few?
  • We broadcast video (and audio!) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can see it on the York Intranet or our monitors across campus.

Sound fun? Of course it is! Directing a live TV show is one of the most exciting things you can do at university, and seeing the end product is one of the most rewarding - that's why we all do it for free. YSTV is run entirely by students in our spare time. Nobody employs us, and nobody tells us what to do either, that means that if you're studying at York, you can come and join in the fun too.

We've been bringing entertainment to York University since 1967, and now the whole world can watch our shows via the Internet. We're pretty proud of that, but there's one thing you can be sure of - we won't be resting on our laurels...
