Sleep and Exams
It can be tempting to sacrifice sleep in favour of doing more revision. But this is often counter productive. We all know that cramming is not a good idea but ensuring you have around 8 hours of sleep a night definitely is!
Some students nap between study sessions. If you do decide to powernap then it should be no more than 15 minutes long to reap the benefits. Any longer and you risk disturbing your sleeping patterns and will find it harder to wake up.
If you’re having trouble sleeping and switching off you can try a few things to help. Try reading before bed, not your text book but something to help take your mind off your exams. The library actually has an excellent fiction section in the English area, beginning with M on the first floor.
There’s no ideal amount of time that everyone must sleep. It varies from person to person... but the average sleep time is 7.75 hours.
