External Trustee Wanted
University of York Students’ Union (YUSU) plays an integral part in delivering the student experience within the University of York. Through student democracy we provide a number of membership and commercial services that fully complement academic life on campus.
Currently an exempt charity, we plan to register with the Charity Commission this year. As a result of a recent governance review, we have formed a new board which includes eight elected students and three external trustees. One of the three external trustees is currently in office and we are now seeking two external trustees to join our board.
We are looking to appoint two more trustee with intensive knowledge or experience of one or more of the following areas:
- Charity law and/or general law;
- Print or broadcast media;
- Financial regulation and oversight.
This experience may have been gained in the public, private or ‘not for profit’ sectors. The individual appointed as trustee will be receptive to our values of student leadership, democracy and change and diversity and not be current students of the University of York.
The trustee board (including its sub-committees) will meet at least twice an academic term (ordinarily evening meetings).
