Stewards and Security
Your Risk Assessment will determine how many stewards you need and where they should sit. Typically we allocate two on the front door of your event to take tickets, and then one each other external door within the event to open it in the case of an evacuation.
Stewards are generally not paid and require no training, though they will be briefed by Security Staff . They should be clearly visible so either get some steward t-shirts or borrow some from the Students’ Union.
Generally you will require the following number of stewards, but check your risk assessment:
Langwith 7 + RP
Derwent 6 + RP
Goodricke 6 + RP
Vanbrugh 7 + RP
Wentworth 5 + RP
Halifax 3 + RP
Alcuin 3 + RP
Doorstaff will be allocated to your event at the standard rate of one per hundred guests. This is subject to change in either direction. See your Risk Assessment for more information.
