The People

Your first contact when running an event is Jeanette, our Events Coordinator. She can help with all aspects of booking and running on the night, and can be found at Reception in the Student Centre.

Entertainments Officer  -  Naomi Dodds & Ed Durkin

E-mail: ents@yusu.org
We’re your Ents Officers, here to do all but keep your uni life focused on what matters. We chair Ents committee and liaise with your super-duper college ents reps (who do the work, we OK it) to bring sunshine to your droll academic lives. We work with the Services and Finance officer to run the big events such as Fresh, Access and SummerBall. We want you to drink on campus, laugh at Comedy in Wentworth, get thrown in the lake…experience events such as Club D and Playboy Mansion, let your pants down(figuratively)…Enjoy!

Services & Finance Officer  -  Matt Burton

E-mail: services@yusu.org
I oversee our wide range of commercial services and act as the treasurer for the union. In normal speak that means Your:Shop, Your:Books, Your:Print and our vehicles. I also co-ordinate Freshers’ Week activities and organise Freshers' Ball, Access all areas, Comedy and Summer Ball. I’ll be in charge of Student Union elections throughout the year too - so watch this space to get involved! If you ever have any suggestions or questions I’d love to hear them. I’m very friendly so pop into the Student Centre, drop me an email or spot me in Toffs on Tuesday...

Before running an event you will require a Risk Assessment. Jill Stead is your first point of contact for that.

Student Activities Safety Worker  -  Peter Kidd

E-mail: safety@yusu.org
Any regulations regarding the possibility of danger and Peter is on the case. Entrusted to keep abreast with Health and Safety legislation, he ensures that we remain covered by our insurance, and does his best to raise awareness to make sure students take safety seriously! This includes PAT testing electrical equipment, outlining the proper usage of vehicles, collating risk assessments and much more..
