Campus Recycling
Each college has its own recycling points so there’s no excuse for not doing your bit! Most campus kitchens have boxes for you to put your recycling, which your wonderful Eco Reps empty. If you can’t find facilities or have any recycling questions, email us at environment@yusu.org. The waste contract for the university is currently being changed and by March lots of new services will be provided by the council, we will update you as soon as we know more.
Recycling waste off campus
From October 2005, houses with gardens will have their household rubbish collected fortnightly. The green bin will be collected on the same day that your recycling box/bag is collected. This means that the new green bins and the kerbside recycling bags and boxes will be emptied one week, and the grey bin will be emptied the next. If you’re not sure what day your rubbish is collected on, or you would like a recycling box, call City of York Council on 01904 551551.
Everything you need to know about off campus recycling and waste collection can be found on the City of York Council website or you can email the recycling team: recycling.team@york.gov.uk.
