The President is the alleged figurehead of the Union and as such is responsible for representing the students to the University and the outside world. I am responsible for pretty much everything the Union does. I take the credit if activities go well, and the flack when it doesn’t! I’ll be in charge of Student Union elections throughout the year too - so watch this space to get involved! If you ever have any suggestions or questions I’d love to hear them. I’m very friendly so pop into the Student Centre, drop me an email or spot me in Toffs on Tuesday... |
Academic and Welfare Officer - VacantE-mail: acwelf@yusu.orgI’m the focal point of all student welfare advice and support, leading the Students’ Union Academic and Welfare Service. This service is based in the Students’ Union Centre, but you can also email with any welfare or academic worries. As well as coordinating welfare campaigns concerning sexual and mental health, security, housing, prejudice and much more, we also offer support and information for students with academic concerns, such as academic appeals. I also represent students on over thirty university and union committees! I also help Student Action run weekly projects working with children, the elderly and in community projects, and the highlight of the year being Kid’s Camp. I also deal with every other student group in the Union that deals with volunteering and charities. If you want to get involved and there isn’t anything you fancy, come into the office or drop me an e-mail… |

As well as ensuring the successful day to day running of the Athletic Union, the president represents the interests of athletic union members internally to the university, and externally on a local, regional, and national level. It is my job to address the requirements of all current clubs and members, and to play a central role in the development of new facilities and new opportunities for the Athletic Union. Basically if you want to know anything about sport, I’ll help you out. |
Policy & Campaigns Officer - Tom Langrish & Michael BatulaE-mail: polcampaigns@yusu.orgWe’re here to ensure that your Students’ Union acts on the things that concern you as students, by organising campaigns on everything from recycling provision on campus and the university’s investments in the arms trade, to national issues such as top-up fees; and also chairing YUSU Senate to ensure that the Union acts in accordance with the policy chosen by the students. (It’s more exciting than it sounds…actually, no, that’s a lie.) But our existence is pointless if students don’t get their voice heard at UGMs, so make sure you get involved – contact us or the President to find out how! |
