Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Committee

LGBT Committee’s role is to:
a) promote the LGBT campaigns and liberation to the membership
b) represent the LGBT movement on campus
c) support the LGBT Officer(s) in their work
d) help to co-ordinate publicise and run awareness-raising activities and political campaigns for LGBT liberation and work with the Academic & Welfare Officer to provide welfare support for LGBT Students.
e) work for unity in the LGBT movement and provide a focal point for the movement on campus
f) organise occasional events with the intension to improve welfare provision for LGBT students, raise awareness of LGBT issues, or form part of an LGBT campaign
g) provide a forum for debate of LGBT issues and a method for creating new policy
h) represent different constituencies in the LGBT movement
i) Members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Committee must self-define as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans.


Members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Committee are to be elected at an open meeting for self-defining students in the Autumn Term by a confidential STV ballot in accordance with this Constitution.

Membership of LGBT Committee is as follows:
a) LGBT Officer(s) (Chair)
b) a bisexual man representative
c) a bisexual woman representative
d) a gay man representative
e) a lesbian representative
f) a trans affairs representative
g) press and publicity
h) secretary
i) 2 ordinary members
j) each LGBT Representative of the Junior or Graduate Common Room Committee with the greatest number of members in each college or their appointed representative
k) A representative from each LGBT based society within the Union, as decided by the LGBT Committee
