Campaigns Committee

Campaigns Committee must meet at least twice each term and its role is:

a) promote Union campaigns and policy to the membership.
b) represent different interests and constituencies in the student movement to the Union’s Campaigns including campaigning student groups
c) to coordinate Union campaigns
d) provide a forum and point of contact for the formation of suggested new policy and campaigns
e) to supply recommendations concerning the formation of future policy and campaigns to the Union Senate and Executive Committee
f) to assist where possible equality and diversity campaigns
g) to work with and support members of the Union involved in the Policy and Campaigns Officer(s)’ forum where appropriate, whilst recognising their autonomy
h) to ensure that the Union’s decisions co-ordinate with the policy and direction of GMs and Union Senate
i) provide support to the Policy and Campaigns Officer in the publication of policy
j) recognise the autonomy of liberation campaigns
k) provide a forum and point of contact for the formation of suggested new policy
l) to supply recommendations concerning the formation of future policy to the Union Senate and Executive Committee


Membership of Campaigns Committee is as follows:

a) Academic and Welfare Officer
b) Disability Officer
c) Environment and Ethics Officers
d) LGBT Officer(s)
e) Policy and Campaigns Officer (chair)
f) Racial Equality Officer(s)
g) Women’s Officer(s)
h) A representative of the Junior or Graduate Common Room Committee with the greatest number of members in each college or their appointed representative
i) 4 Ordinary Members (elected by a cross-campus ballot during the autumn term)
j) President
k) Societies and Communications Officer (in attendance)
