Concert Band
concertband@yusu.orgWe are an entirely student run wind band, playing a wide variety of music and eating a wide variety of biscuits. We aim to play three concerts per year in York and go on tour, recent trips have been in Bruges and Dublin. We are open to players of all standards, so if you play woodwind, brass or percussion then we are the society for you!
Chinese Students and Scholars Association
cssa@yusu.orgCSSA-YORK is committed to developing unique and attractive programs and activities locally, nationally and internationally. This enables Chinese students, scholars and other ethnic individuals interested in China to experience and enjoy a richer, fuller, and more successful life in York and beyond.
ChemSoc
ChemSoc is the student society for anyone interested in chemistry. It provides the opportunity to get to know people studying chemistry, arranges social events such as nights out and organises interesting guest lectures. Anyone is welcome to join, and we are happy to chat or answer any questions anyone has!
Concert Orchestra
concertorchestra@yusu.orgConcert orchestra is a non auditioning orchestra, that aims to provide anyone who wants to keep playing a musical instrument at uni the chance to do so. We welcome all players though most are at least grade 5 standard. We play a variety of music, rehearse once a week, complete with refreshments and perform at least two concerts a year.
Chess Soc
We play chess in a fun, friendly environment. Anyone can join, from complete beginner to Grand Master! We host a club night every week, and also arrange social events such as a night out, and the infamous drinking chess event! We will have a team in the York Chess League for experienced players.
Cassoc
cassoc@yusu.orgCassoc aims to promote a sense of community within the university. We look at issues which affect us as students and as Christians and hopefully explore and expand our knowledge of faith and its relationship to what we do and who we are. At the same time it’s important to have some fun! If you enjoy meeting new people and relaxing in a friendly environment then we might be the society for you. There can be times when university can get a bit hectic and I hope you all find a haven be it in Cassoc or else where.
Christis
christis@yusu.orgChristis is the University of York’s free Christian magazine and website. We offer an open and challenging attitude towards Christianity, provoking discussion within it, but also extending beyond it. Our aim is to provide a forum and a mouthpiece for concerned Christianity in its broadest sense.
Conservative and Unionist Association
tories@yusu.orgThe Conservative and Unionist Association (or just the York Tories) is a predominantly social society underpinned by centre-right politics, and one of the most active societies on campus. Our events cover a broad spectrum from the political (notable speakers, debates, campaigning) to the social (balls, weekly dinners, pub crawls, themed nights). Our aim is to spread Conservative spirit and values on campus and around York.
Craftsoc
craft@yusu.orgJoin us every Wednesday afternnon 3-5pm we make a range of crafts. You can also come along and work on a project or craft you are already doing.
Comedy Society
comedysoc@yusu.orgWant to write, perform or watch comedy? Then we're the society for you. Every year we aim to take a show up the the Fringe Festival, written by, and starring our members. To get there we put on a variety of comedy events on campus, ranging from stand up, to sketch shows to improvised comdey. We also organise, write and run the hugely popular 'Have I Got News For York?'. Want to get involved with any of those things? Then why not join us!
Cheesy Pop Soc
As a society we are passionate about the promotion and appreciation of Cheesy Pop. Cheesy Pop isn't just the past, its the present and the ultimate start, middle and end to any night out! Check out Cheesy Pop Soc for events, socials and expertise in all things Cheesy Pop!
Central Hall Musical Society
