Nominations are open!

Posted by Dan Walker - Democracy & Services Officer, 26/01/2011.

YUSU is run by students. This means that every year you choose 5 people to stand for what you believe in and make sure that your needs are included in everything the University does. They are the face of your students’ union and the people that make things happen at YUSU every day, through campaigning, representation and decision making. This is a full time job so these people are paid to take a year out, either from their course or getting a graduate job, to fulfil these roles.

These 5 Full-Time Officers are supported by a host of part time officers and committee chairs who take the lead on specific area of policy such as the environment or campus events, making sure your issues are at the heart of what goes on on campus and even on a national scale.

There’s no interview, no application forms and no experience of the Union required. As long as you are a student at York you can take a stand, and run for election.

Head to www.yusu.org/nominate to see which positions are now open for nomination! You have until noon on Thursday Week 5 (10th of Feb).

Get involved, and good luck!
