"Weekly Info", Spring Week 5: Some Brief Updates

Posted by Tom Scott, 11/02/2009.

UNIVERSITY CHALLENGE TRYOUTS

I've now marked 180 University Challenge tryout tests, and emails have gone out to everyone who took part. A few of the 'sorry, you didn't quite make it' messages bounced back with "invalid user" errors, so if you haven't yet got a reply from me... sorry, you didn't make it through, but do try again next year. The standard was very, very high this time!

YORK COME DANCING

Congratulations to Tom Flynn, the winner of York Come Dancing - and a deserving winner as well. I had a fantastic time, even if it is difficult to dance with an eyepatch on; the whole event was a credit to the orgasnisers, to Dancesport, to YSTV, to RAG, and to everyone involved.

RAG WEEK

Mad Cap'n Tom's making a few appearances around campus this week, in aid of RAG week - juggling on Vanbrugh Paradise or taking part in the RAG parade. If you spot me, come and say hello - and drop a few coins in RAG's bucket!

THIS WEEK, I'LL BE...

Presenting a paper to University Teaching Committee, setting up elections, meeting the Vice-Chancellor, sitting on Campus Development Steering Group, taking part in RAG Parade, chairing a trustee board meeting, sitting on Library Committee, and a dozen other things besides. Want my job? You can have it.

ELECTIONS ARE GO

No, really. You can have it. Pick up an election pack at YUSU Reception from Monday Week 6 when nominations open, or come along to the Potential Candidates' Briefing, Wednesday Week 6 at 5:15pm in V/045.
