Welcome to RAG!
Hi,
We're Jon and James, your RAG Officers, and this is our first of many amazing blogs. We would like to start with an apology that we did not do any last term, as we were only just finding our feet in the new position.
Now we have settled in (and now that we know how to use it), we can use this blogosphere to tell you all about the amazing things we have got going on in RAG. We want to push on from last year by raising more money and having more fun. Last term we managed to have a RAG raid in York, go wild in York Carnival, run a hitch to Paris and embarrass ourselves singing Karaoke in our very own campus wide music festival, Woodstock.
Right now you can get involved in RAG by nominating a charity for us to support next year. If you have a charity close to heart, we encourage you to go on our website www.yusu.org/rag and fill in a form. Either email the form to ragcharities@yusu.org or send them to the student centre. The deadline is the 1st of October and we will hold elections for which ones to support at the start of term. The money we raise will get split between all our chosen charities at the end of the year, so becoming a chosen charity can make a huge difference.
We are still in the process of planning what RAG would like to do next term and are always open to suggestions at rag@yusu.org. Rumour is that we might be going on a Halloween megaraid to Manchester, a weekend hitch to Dublin, completly owning freshers’ fair and maybe sorting out a bungee jump.
RAG is something that epitomises the university experience. You get to try things that you have never had the opportunity to do before and meet all different types of people, whilst at the same time making a huge difference. Whether you are a fresher, second year or third year don’t miss out on RAG. Join in on any of activities, get in contact with us by email or at freshers fair, or turn up to our meetings Monday’s 6.30 in L/N/003 to find out more and join us for a pint afterwards.
