Ok, this is my first blog ever, so please bear with me. The first day of my Sabb position was painful. Never start a job after your 22nd birthday, especially if that job involves going to an NUS regional conference. Ouch, enough said.

The first two weeks were not what I was expecting (although I really had no idea what to expect). Lots of training. LOTS and lots of training. We’ve done all sorts of team building, goal setting and interpersonal conflict training. Some coffee drinking, file sorting and communications planning. We’ve gone to delegation training, liberation campaigns training and in the case of myself and Nick, got lost in a corn field on the edge of Leicester.

Don’t get me wrong though the whole process has been massively informative and good fun, but we trained for what seems like a really long time, so I’m glad to now get down to work!

So what am I doing? Well at the moment there’s a big focus on Freshers’ Week Prep, something that’s starting to build momentum.

With an entire new club line-up things are taking slightly longer than usual, but JCRC’s should be in a position to deliver fantastic freshers’ weeks this year, capped off with freshers’ fair and YUSU’s massive headline event at the end of the week. Details about the new club nights and events will be released over the summer, so watch this space!

Other than freshers’ week I’m making some movements on a couple of my campaign policies, and I’ll update everyone where I’ve got to as I make progress.

Hope everyone reading this is enjoying the summer + keep an eye on this site for all the latest! There’s also our freshers’ facebook page which will be updated alongside the main website, so any incoming (or current) students direct any questions here and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible .

Cheers!
