Thanks & Award Results
Hi everyone,
Firstly, I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came to the York Sport Dinner last night - I hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
I would like to congratulate everyone who were presented with Colours last night at the Dinner, whether College Colours, Half Colours or Full Colours, these are all in recognition of long-standing contribution to your clubs and colleges. Those people who have received Colours, but were not at the Dinner will be contacted with details of how to collect their certificates.
Congratulations must go to the winners of the award categories. Shortlisting was incredibly tough and all those shortlisted 100% deserved to be there. The winners in these strongly contest fields were as follows:
College Sportswoman of the Year: Beth O'Leary - Wentworth
College Sportsman of the Year: Samik Datta - Wentworth
College Team of the Year: Wentworth Volleyball
Justin Taylor Memorial Award: Frankie Hall - Halifax
Sportswoman of the Year: Marlies Neuner - YUsnow
Sportsman of the Year: Michael Walsh - Pool & Snooker
Service to Sport: Adam Shergold
Most Improved Team of the Year: Cricket Men's 1sts
Roses Team of the Year: Mixed Volleyball
Team of the Year: Pool 1sts
Club of the Year: Men's Rugby
Sadly, the overall Inter-College Champion wasn't able to be presented due to the College Sport Officer, Paul Guest, being in hospital. Paul is recovering and will be okay, but was very sadly missed last night. The overall winner will be announced before the end of term once Paul is a bit stronger, but the contest is the tightest it has been for a long time and 5 colleges are in the running for it.
I would like to thank everyone who has made this year what it has been, with a huge thank you to my committee. Best of luck to Sam Asfahani, the new committee and the clubs and colleges next year - I hope the year goes well and look forward to returning to see how it's going.
