Update on the work of RAG
We’ve been very busy over the last few weeks organising our main event of this term, Woodstock. The committee has been finalising plans for fundraising at Woodstock and we have also been running York’s Got Talent heats in every college, with the winners of these heats getting the chance to perform at Woodstock itself. (Hopefully you may have attended or will be attneding your college’s event)
Other events have been run very successfully with good amounts of money being raised. Colleges have run great events such as the Goodricke Pirate Invasion and the Vanburgh trip to Scarborough, which both raised over £100. RAG had a stall at York Carnival and despite the weather, raised a reasonable amount.
Aside from our events, we have also been working with Lewis Bretts to get the vacant positions on our committee filled through cooption and nominations for these close today, with the Rules and Revisions committee overseeing the process. We have also been working with Student Activities Officer, Rhianna Kinchin, to finalise the beneficiary elections, so you the students will be able to choose the charities that RAG will support in the coming academic year. This proposal passed through council this week, so nominations will open soon, with application forms available on the YUSU website and these will remain open throughout the summer.
Hope to see you all at Woodstock on Saturday Week 9! (26th June)
