The Amazing Recent Happenings of Environment and Ethics
It's been an exciting few weeks!
Back at the beginning of February, we learned that the University of York has signed up to the 10:10 initiative to reduce its carbon emissions by 10% during 2010. This was the culmination of many months of negotiation, and a great success for all the students who've been involved in campaign.
Week 7 saw our annual Green Week, where we hosted a number of events seeking to answer the question 'What is the role of York Students in the Climate Change Challenge?'. We hosted a speech by Energy and Climate Change Minister, David Kidney MP, a student debate with the UNA and Politics Soc on intenational climate change, a Q&A with the University's Sustainablity Champion, a showing of Wall-E and a tea party! It was great to see lots of students with no previous involvement coming along to our events, and we hope we were successful in sparking some intersting conversations and debate!
