What have the RAG officers been up to?
What have RAG been up to?
It’s been a busy time for RAG, finishing up with the last bits of RAG week (total still to be announced...!) and planning the last details for the sponsored sky dive this Saturday. Good luck to everyone who has signed up, we hope you have a great time! Each skydiver has raised a grand total of £100 to go straight to RAG’s core charities.
We enjoyed getting involved in international week, where we had a raffle throughout the week as well as collections for the international talent pageant and selling sweet goodness at their movie night.
Plans for Woodstock are well under way – contact ragwoodstock@yusu.org if you would like to get involved in the organisation of this.
Other main things RAG have been doing are planning the RAG fusion after party (get your tickets online now!) which promises to be a brilliant magical night of fairy tales, and fundraising and working with fusion as much as possible to raise lots of lovely money for charity.
We also tried something new last weekend, with our first ever (and hugely successful!) LOST. This involved dropping a group of 43 ‘prisoners’ in an unknown location and finding their way back to York free of charge, as quickly as possible. Congrats to the winners who made it back from Loch Lomond to the YUSU office in a record 7 hours! The next hitch is going to be organised by the new committee next term and promises to be brill – the perfect opportunity to celebrate finishing your degree for those final year students!
You might also have seen that we have re-done the RAG section of the website (www.yusu.org/rag) where you can find heaps of information about RAG, ultra vires, charities we support, one-off appeals, how to get involved in RAG and events going on. We have also been finalising and clarifying the details of the workings of the online donation system we have set up with charity giving, more complicated than you might expect! Anyone can donate, online, anytime to RAG’s core charities at www.charitygiving.com/yusurag.
We have also been planning a trip to Harrogate to collect in this lovely town on Saturday week 9, email ragraids@yusu.org if you are interested. It promises to be a great day out and a fantastic way to do your bit, get more involved in RAG and meet some lovely new people.
We have been working with the college RAG reps as they are currently working on recruiting keen raggers to get involved in their college RAG teams. Email them ragcollege@yusu.org, e.g. ragderwent@yusu.org
We have also been supporting Krish, our RAG ordinary member who has given up the booze and is training to run the London Marathon in April for Kidscape with RAG! Sponsor him with any spare pennies or pounds http://www.virginmoneygiving.com/krish
Finally, the RAG committee have been thinking outside the box about new, fresh ideas RAG can do in the future, and we have thought about the RAG committee and the positions on the committee and come up with some minor changes. We voted to change RAG vice to ‘college co-ordinator’ to be more of a fitting description of the role, and we have changed press and publicity to ‘marketing’ as we use the wonderful YUSU designer for our posters now. Look out for a rag-related UGM coming your way!
That’s all for now folks! RAG love, Helen and Zoe x RAG Officers
