Elections Update

Posted by Lewis Bretts, 04/03/2010.

- Sam Afshani has been subject to a campaigning ban from 1300-1600 today, Mark Pickard and Peter Saul are subject to a ban until 1630 on March the 12th. I'd ask all candidates to support me in policing this. I'd also like to remind all candidates that it is essential that all supporters and campaigners are aware of election rules, particularly those pertaining to mass emails.

- Following further discussions with Campus Services, all porters and cleaners should be leaving posters alone wherever possible. However, posters that are covering fire exits, safety notices and vision panels will be removed. One slight variation to what has been discussed before; please do not place posters in toilets. I will not penalise candidates for existing posters, but no more should be placed in toilets.

- Where campaign materials are being placed on pillars with white bands; please take care that they do not obstruct the white bands as these are designed to aid the visually impaired

- The lovely people at nightline have asked me to make you aware that they are available for confidential listening services if you're getting stressed during the campaigning. Contact them on 01904 433735, email them (nightline@yusu.org) or drop in to see them.

- As a special gift from me, candidates can collect a stack of 'Vote Now' playing card size flyers from YUSU reception either tomorrow or on monday. Please don't distribute them until monday, but when you get them you are welcome to deface them or write on them however you wish. Big Bird and Oscar will be distributing the rest around campus next week!
