My first blog... for anyone who wondered what I did all day.
Since the last Union General Meeting I have:
• Started work on linking YUSU, JCR and Society volunteer hours to the York Award Scheme for full accreditation
• Helped some societies tidy up their storage containers
• Tidied the society office with Anne-Marie and Matt
• Checked several issues of the papers and read countless news stories on York media websites
• Answered over 3000 emails, usually within 24 hours
• Helped several societies get ratified
• Kept the campus media informed of breaking news stories
• Worked with the campus media and other officers to put together important changes to the YUSU Media Charter
• Become a Pro-Returning Officer for the YUSU elections
• Worked with the Communications Office to clarify the procedures for societies to apply for speaker funding
• Helped the CSSA organise their Chinese New Year Gala
• Attended every Union Exec, Union Finance, and Union Senate meeting, and several University meetings including Campus Services and one about warning students of the dangers of social networking sites
• Been learning how to use the new website and pointing out little bugs so that I can keep my sections up to date
• Chaired Rules Committee and offered advice on writing motions for this UGM, arguably too successfully
• Continued to populate our online keylist system
• Surveyed societies about the success of YUSU Fair and worked on plans for its improvement
• Discussed the future plans of YUSU Marketing
• Made three New Year’s resolutions with varying degrees of success
