LOST will be on the Saturday of Week 7, 27th of February. If you have been on a previous hitchhike or have always wanted to go on one then this is for you. Instead of our usual hitch, this term we bring you LOST, a new event never done at York before. LOST will involve being taken via minibus or coach to a secret location somewhere in the UK. It will then be a mad race to get back to York! The idea is to make it back to York for free by hitchhiking with cars or lorries or blagging trains etc. The first group to get back to YUSU will win an amazing prize!
We will be raising money for RAG’s core charities which are; St. Leonard’s Hospice, Water Aid, YUSU Volunteering, Invisible Children, The Island (how appropriate!!), and Marie Curie Cancer Care. This is done be raising sponsorship money from friends and relatives. Sign-up is online on the YUSU website, as was done for the Dublin hitch. We will also be having a welcome/information meeting very soon which we will message out about. On sign-up there will be a £20 charge to cover your costs for the event. Then we will help you collect £60 of sponsorship. There will also be a prize for the person who raises the most money.
On sign-up you will receive: - A t-shirt to help you hitchhike and a treasured memento for after it’s all over - Transport to a secret location (It will be somewhere cool we promise!) - Coaching tips and advice and a full social offering from your lovely hitch co-ordinators
Hitchhiking must be done in groups of 2-3 which must include at least one boy. If you are on your own then you can still sign up, we will find you someone to hitch with.
This year, RAG is getting involved in... INTERNATIONAL WEEK!
'The line-up of events organized by the International Students’ Association (ISA) during the International Week (Week 7) UK and international students are ALL very welcome! Throughout the week, ISA RAG fundraisers will be selling raffle tickets. The winner will receive a free trip to anywhere in the UK in the summer term, including the use of a YUSU minibus AND a driver!
