Union's Future & Space Strategy

Posted by Tim Ngwena, 18/02/2010.

Hello

Just a brief update from me regarding the strategic plan for the union and the University's Space Strategy including some progress regarding a new union building.

Union's Strategic Plan

The strategic plan survey and consultation process will bee ending tomorrow. We've consulted just over 80 individuals through 8 focus groups with varying demographic of students, as well getting a great response rate on the survey.

The next step is to start preparing a draft of the strategy to put out for consultation in early March. Meanwhile for those of you have been involved in the focus groups, you should be hearing from me shortly and for those who have taken the survey, we will be having the prize draw in the courtyard next week, again for details and times, check you emails this weekend.

University Space Strategy

Over the last 5 months, I've been working to asses the space strategy for the union and the university. This has involved visits to Loughbrough and St Andrews University as well as an audit of the space requirements and needs of all students on campus, the union, societies and last but not least sports teams.

As part of the University space strategy, Ive been asked to start drafting a document detailing these needs as well as setting up working group within the union to start building a draft specification for a union building. If you have any input that you would like to feed into the discussion please email me president@yusu.org or pass on the feedback through any union officer.

That's all for now.
