LGBT Officer Report 4/2/10 :)

Posted by LGBT Officers, 04/02/2010.

Hi all!

This term, we've got loads going on, and most of the past few weeks have gone into putting it all together.

We're just at the beginning of History Month at the moment, so watch out for all the stuff going on over the next few weeks. We're showing the film 'Beyond Hatred' tomorrow in James JCR Lakeside at 18.30 and next week, we're discussing how the AIDS crisis has shaped the restrictions on who can give blood on Monday and Sue Mendus is talking to us about the decriminalisation of homosexuality on Friday, both at 19.00 in G/020. For more information and to keep up-to-date, please drop us an e-mail at lgbt@yusu.org or join the History Month Facebook group.

We've also been working with Women's Committee on planning some interesting equality and diversity this term, and we're hoping to step outside the usual 'liberation' strands and look at some new stereotypes.

Last but not least, we have Love Without Borders:REVISITED coming up in week 9, which should be really exciting. We've started a bit of work on it, but keep in touch as we firm everything up.

As always, we've been doing loads of stuff behind-the-scenes, co-ordinating college reps and will now hopefully be running drop-ins again at least every even week in YUSU's Advice & Support Centre, downstairs in the Student Centre in James College.

Our term in office is nearly over, but if you're interested in running for LGBT Officer, please let us know, and we'd be glad to have a chat with you about the role.
