Why Ratify?
The Union ratifies societies so it can offer finance, support and assistance to groups of students. Once ratified a society gains access to a pigeonhole and the support of our staff in the Student Centre. You'll also be able to promote your society on the YUSU regulated noticeboards and on the YUSU website. In addition only ratified societies will be eligible for a stall at Freshers Fair, take part in Re:Freshers Week and apply for funding from the Students Union. The Students’ Union also insures ratified societies, and the Union supplies storage space for property and equipment.
Ratification is relatively painless. All you need is 3 registered students of the University of York willing to act as contacts to the Union and Account Signatories, and a clear idea of what you’d like the proposed society to do.
