How to get money back for society/club purchases
Any purchase for a society from Own Funds (see other articles for an explanation on this) needs to be approved by at least two signatories of the account, and if a particularly large purchase, should indeed be voted upon by the committee.
Once you’ve bought something, you’ll need to get an Orange Form from either the Finance Office or your Treasurer. This will then need to be signed by the two signatories and returned to the Finance Office with the receipts of your purchase. If you don’t have any receipts you’ll need three signatories.
It will take the Finance Office two to three days to process this payment and once that’s done, payment will be deposited directly into your bank account where possible, or for payments under £50, cash from the Finance Office.
Selling Online
If you are a ratified club, society or JCRC, you can use our online shop to sell event tickets and/or merchandise. To get started, you first need to liaise with YUSU Finance (finance@yusu.org) in order to gain access to the shopping system.

Income will be credited to the appropriate account the next working day.

How do I sell event tickets online?
If you would like to sell tickets for your event through our website, please follow the steps below:
- Login to the website
- Add your event to our database using the events option in the menu.
- Click the event "Ticket Details" link
- Fill in the ticket details form and click the "Save" button
An online booking fee will automatically be added to the ticket price and the ticket details will then need to be approved by YUSU Finance. When the details are approved the tickets will be listed for sale in the online shop.
Refunds
Refunds are only processed if an event is cancelled. The account of the event organiser will be debited the full ticket price plus the booking fee that was paid by the customer. Finance will process refunds within 28 days of notification of the request.
How do I sell merchandise online?
If you would like to sell merchandise through our website, please follow the steps below:
- Login to the website
- Click on the "Shop" menu item
- Click on the "Products" menu link
- Click on the "New Product" button
- Fill in the product details form and then click the "Save" button
- Optionally enter some product variants
- Optionally upload an image
The product details will need to be approved by YUSU Finance, after which the product will be listed for sale in the online shop.

You can e-mail the Finance department using finance@yusu.org, or call into the Student Centre between 10am and 4pm Mon-Fri.
